Journal #5
Chapters 13-15
Perspective: Atticus
I don’t know why Alexandra wanted to come stay with us. I think that kids will be kids for as long as they can. They shouldn’t have to grow up until they have to. I have to say Alexandra fit in very well. She made friends with almost the whole town. Though she had her opinions of some, most were still her friends. She had acquired the Maycomb personality. It would be almost impossible to extract it from her.
She had been here for about a week and that is when she got out of control. She suggested that we “let go” of Cal. She doesn’t know that Calpurnia is a part of this family and she can leave when she wants to. I can’t believe she would even suggest that. I am very mad at her and we are fighting. One night Dill turned up. Jem told me that Dill was hiding under Scout’s bed and he only emerged when he was almost hit with a broom. I told Dill that I had to tell his Aunt. I told him that he could eat whatever he likes because he hadn’t eaten since last night.
I was watching my son grow up right in front of me. He is maturing faster than I expected or that is how it seems. His senses are becoming infallible. I know there is still some kid in him though. I can just tell by the way he acts. He was losing his want to antagonize people. Heck came to the door the other day with some people from town. He said that they were moving Tom. I told him to keep him just one night. Then when I went to the jail that night I knew I was going to get hurt. A group of people came, and I knew they were going to, to get Tom. I stood up to them and I knew something bad was about to happen. I am so glad that Scout, Jem, and Dill showed up. They probably saved my life. I knew Mr. Underwood was there but I was still scared.

You did a really good job at making it sound so natural. It has no crazy, hard to follow vocabulary. Its a real simple journal entry. GOOD JOB hehe :)
