Chapter 12: Cry of the Hunters
My title: Perfect Timing
Perspective: Ralph
The first place I hid was in the thicket. I was so scared when they stared throwing rocks down at me. Then they set the thicket on fire with Piggy's glasses and drove me out of the thicket. They saw me run away and I heard a faint ululation in the distance. I am so grateful that Samneric gave me meat. I'm glad they didn't try to diddle me and give away my position. I cant believe Jack forced Samneric onto his tribe. He is so mean. Roger even had a two sided sharpened spear for my head. I am glad they didn't catch me. The thicket fire flushed me out of hiding because the fire spread around everywhere. I saw the naval officer dressed in drill. It was the best sight ever. Jack followed behind me to the beach and the naval officer saw his painted appearance. When Percival tried to remember his name he couldn't. He had already said it too many times and got tired of his name. I think Jack should take full responsibility because if he had listened to everything I said and stayed with the group none of this would have happened. The naval officer was so disappointed in us because he had learned that two people had died on this island.

Chapter 11
1. In the beginning of the chapter, what does Piggy tell Ralph to do with the conch?
Piggy tells Ralph to call an assembly so that the hunters will come out.
2. What reason will Piggy give Jack for the return of his glasses?
Piggy was going to ask for them back nicely telling Jack that he (Piggy) knew that Jack was better than him and that he needed his glasses back.
3. What does Ralph declare their appearance will be when they approach Jack?
He wants to be civilized and look nice. He wanted to be hygienic.
4. Who challenges the boys on their approach to Castle Rock?
Roger started to throw stones at them and told them to get away.
5. When Jack appears, what has he been doing?
He was out in the forest hunting.
6. What does Ralph call Jack that provokes a fight?
He calls Jack a thief because he stole Piggy’s glasses.
7. What happens to Samneric after the fight?
They are forced to join Jacks tribe and be a hunter.
8. What is Roger doing during Piggy’s plea for a return to decency?
He starts to throw rocks at him.
9. Write a STRONG PARAGRAPH about who is responsible for Piggy’s death and why.
I believe that Roger is responsible for Piggy’s death because he is the one that pushed the great rock off the cliff. Roger was delirious and didn’t know what he was doing but he did it and that’s all that matters. All Piggy wanted was his glasses back, he was trying to be civilized but Roger ended his life truculently. It was no accident because he put all of his weight into it and the rock fell down onto Piggy, who was holding the talisman trying to restore order. There was a cessation of talking as Piggy fell. He is responsible for murder in the first degree and should be punished. Jack didn’t kill Piggy, Roger did.

Chapter 10
Simon’s Ghost
I can’t believe that Piggy thinks my death was an accident. He said that it was dark and no one knew who I was. I even told them about the dead pilot but they ran too fast and killed me thinking I was the beast. There is no beast; it’s only the combination of fear and imagination. For the hunters there is also bloodlust. They already had their spears through my body. I hope that Ralph finds a way to get off this island and get the hunters thrown in jail. They deserve it they murdered me. Piggy and Ralph were at the feast but all they did is watch. I don’t think they knew who I was. Piggy can barely see so I didn’t expect him to know who I was.
Also I was watching Jack beat Wilfred and tie him up for no reason. He made some weird rules and if you disobey them you will get beaten. Wilfred didn’t do anything and he still beat him. They also talked about when they killed me. They said that I was the beast in disguise. How dumb can you get? Jack tried to tell everyone in his tribe that I was the beast. That it was good to get rid of the beast; everyone knew that I wasn’t the beast. Jack is a killer.
Then Jack planned to steal Piggy’s glasses because they needed fire to cook the meat. He planned with Maurice and Roger to come in the night and steal the glasses. They then went and attacked Ralph’s tribe in the middle of the night when they were defenseless. I can’t believe that they would do that. Afterwards I heard Ralph saying that he would have given them fire if they asked. He also said they are becoming more and more like savages. They are losing all sense of manner and have no hope of being rescued. Another thing that surprises me is how jack is functioning after murdering someone.

Lord of The Flies
Chapter 8: Gift for the Darkness
Scene 2
The most scary scene in the book was when Jack beheaded the pig and put the head on a stick. He took his hunting knife and he sliced little by little the pigs neck. Jack separated the pig and had some hunters take the body for the meat. Then he had Roger sharpen a spear at both ends and stuck one end into the ground. Jack then lifted the pigs head and put it on the stick. A bunch of flies gathered around it and it became the Lord of The Flies. They left the gift for the beast so that the beast wouldn't hunt them. Jack believed that if you give the beast food then it would not take care of them. What they had not know was that in fact that Simon was watching them. Later the pigs head started talking to Simon. This was the scariest chapter of any book I ever read. And I read a lot of books.
I think that Jack Merridew killed Simon. If he hadn't split up from the group nothing would have gone wrong. Not only this he lead and told the group to kill the “beast” which was as we know Simon. He also made the group very exited after the killing of the pig.
“Him! Him!”
The circle became a horseshoe. A thing was crawling out of the forest.
This shows that Jack in fact murdered Simon. This leads to the fact that everyone has a dark side, some more than others.

Chapter Title: Shadows And Tall Trees
My Title: Slaying A Pig
Perspective: Jack
Wow I can’t believe Ralph got so excited over hunting when he hates it. That game we played where Robert was pretending to be a pig was so fun, almost as fun as rugger. We jabbed him with the dull end of our spears and he pretended to die. Everyone licked their lips at Robert. I happened to lick off a layer of brine. Robert laughed at us licking our lips. Everyone was so psyched while the game was going on but after that the mood calmed down a bit. Jack suggested that they should use the littluns in Roberts place and actually kill them. He said they were useless because all they do is eat, sleep, and poop wherever they feel like it. I think that this might lead to neglect and attack. It seems that Jack doesn't like the littluns. All the boys are convinced there is a beast because they saw the dead pilot. Their imagination took over and they thought that the dead pilot was the beast with wings, claws, and teeth. Even though Ralph likes hunting now he is still a big jerk. He always has a dun expression on and he is too focused on getting rescued. He is impervious to other people’s ideas. He doesn't even have control over his group. All he wants to do is to go back to the moors where he lived. I can't even talk it over with him because he doesn't listen to anyone. He thinks that he is still the chief but we all drifted away and he still doesn't get it. I think that I should have been leader. If I was I would have gotten our priorities straight. Hunting is our number one priority. Also I wouldn’t have had stupid rules like you have to have the conch to speak. Everyone would probably listen to me and not ignore me like they do to Ralph.

Chapter Title: Beast From Air
My Title: There Is No Beast
Perspective: Simon
What sign comes down from the grown up world?
The so-called sign is a dead aviator. Everyone thinks that it is a sign but a dead person is a weird sign. I don’t think it is a sign and no one else should but their imagination is taking over their perception of reality.
Why aren’t the boys aware of it?
Ralph and Jack aren’t aware because they are always embroiled. Jack is always waxy; he is always out to get someone. They can’t take one minute to see what’s happening instead of arguing. Also Piggy doesn’t realize because he is caught up in trying to get his point through.
Why are Sam ‘n Eric so terrified?
Mutinously they told us that they are the ones who first saw the “beast” which was the dead pilot. Their imagination took over and they thought he was a beast when he was hanging from his parachute.
How do Sam ‘n Eric describe the beast?
They think that he had wings and claws and fangs. They said he looked very scary but they couldn’t really see because it was dark. I think all their talk is a bunch of guano. They are just making it up.
What is the attitude of the boys when going off to look for the beast?
Jack got way too excited when we went to look for the beast. He really wants to kill it but I think he also wants to feel the power of killing. He is getting way to caught up in hunting and forgetting about real life back home. He doesn’t even want to be rescued.
Is there really a beast? How do you know?
I don’t think there is a beast because there are no such things as beasts. I think that is just everyone’s imagination is being toyed with by themselves. They all see what they want to see. The beast isn’t real but everyone thinks it is.
What do you think the actual beast that all of the boys are so afraid of really is?
I think that they are just scared of never being rescued. Also I think they are afraid of the savages inside them, especially Jack.
These people are getting carried away and they forget about trying to get rescued. The stay on this island feels interminable.

Chapter Title: Beast From Water
My Title: Jack Is Not Worth It
Perspective: Piggy
Jack is so mean. He is ludicrous, he needs be nicer and he needs to learn that he is not always right. He is losing all thought of decorum. At the assembly Ralph called he interrupted me so much when I had the conch. Ralph really wanted to call the assembly because he felt his authority was challenged even though he is the chief. Ralph has a good effigy of chieftainship. He felt no one was listening to him. Everyone didn’t follow the rules like they went to the bathroom wherever they liked instead of the designated spot. Also Jack let the fire go out when it was his job to keep it going. We had a chance at being rescued by the ship that Ralph saw in the distance. I think Jack is a stupid fool for letting the fire go out and going to hunt. It seems like he doesn’t want to be rescued. He is turning into a savage, all he can think about is hunting. Also everyone needs to go to the designated spot to go to the bathroom or all our food and shelter will be contaminated. Ralph and Jack need to stop fighting otherwise there will be war. We all have already split into groups. There is Ralph’s side and Jacks side. Simon, who is on Ralph’s side, always recited incantations to pray that he will be rescued. Praying won’t do any good. What we need is a miracle Even though there is still the beast to worry about we are fighting. All the littluns are scared in their sleep because of the beast. While they were sleeping lamentation would creep out of them. Even Percival was scared of the beast. He even thinks that it might be a beast from water. I think that the dirtiest thing about human nature is hatred and lust for power. Those traits are the worst traits ever. There are no words to describe them. If I were leader I would enforce more laws and make consequences for breaking them. Ralph isn’t too strict but he needs to be. I would make the group obey and we will get rescued faster.
